Many believe the past delays were due to the work-from-home setup caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, the company announced for the second time that they would be delaying the event and season 3 for another week. However, due to unknown reasons, the company announced they'd be moving it to the end of May, and season 3 was supposed to happen today, June 4. The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities." "We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics. As an apology for poor server performance, all players regardless of whether or not they attended the event received the tie-fighter glider. In a report by The Verge, the developer behind the infamous battle royale title, Fortnite, has canceled its end-of-the-season event yet again. Lupo were not able to attend the event, even though Fortnite's Creative Director, Donald Mustard, infamously gave him a shout-out during the event. This caused players to flood to the Fortnite servers all at one time, and as a result some players were not able to attend the event even after playing the game for hours prior. Player's may recall the Star Wars preview event that took place during Fortnite's Chapter 2 Season 1 which was the last one-time-only event, but it did not have limited seating. In addition to a special sneak preview, the players who attended the event would receive a limited edition Tie-Fighter glider. The most recent events have been a lot smoother in terms of server performance, but by reducing the number of players even more it's likely Epic Games is trying to limit the risk of server overload as much as possible. Or, in the case of Fortnite's Travis Scott concert, the same scripted event took place multiple different times for players on different servers. Recently, Fortnite events have taken place over several days allowing players in different time zones and in different regions of the world the chance to enjoy an event. However, events in the past have overwhelmed the Epic Games servers, causing them to crash or lock players out of the event entirely. The Device is slated to take place on June 4 at 2PM ET, and Epic Games has encouraged players to log-in 30 minutes early to secure a spot at the event because, as they stated, " Space is limited!" This is the first-ever in-game Fortnite event where it has been expressed that space will be limited. The clock was obviously reset after the delay was announced, but now the event has an official name. The clock, in classic doomsday fashion, is a digital timer that counts down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the event starts. Up until the announcement made on May 28, fans had been referring to the upcoming change as The Doomsday Event, which referenced the doomsday clock that has recently appeared in-game.
